After a grueling week of exams I decided on a whim to "get the heck out of dodge" for the weekend. So I drove to my mom's house in Northern New Mexico on Friday and then Saturday we drove to Southern Colorado to visit my sister. We picked her up and headed out for a long drive in the mountains. The entire trip was a great opportunity to do some photographing! I will start out with my favorite from the trip. On our way home from the mountain trip with my mom and sister, Jessica (my sister) spied an owl sitting on a high-line pole on the side of the road. We pulled over and I got a few shots of the owl on the pole and then he flew over to a barn nearby and I was able to get this picture: ![]() And here is a close-up of the little guy! ![]() Of course you can't go to Colorado and not get pictures of the mountains! The highest point on the big mountain in the middle is called Challenger Point (14,080 ft) and the peak to the right of that is Crestone Peak (14,294 ft) which is pictured from a different angle and closer below: ![]() Crestone Peak (14,294 ft): ![]() ![]() And I couldn't resist shooting this train as it passed by: ![]() And last but not least! I stopped in Groom, TX for these last two shots of the largest cross in the Western hemisphere! ![]() I hope you enjoyed these because I sure enjoyed shooting them!
